Jalen Hurts, Nick Bosa and George Kittle are Colin’s best players in NFC Championship Game
Colin Cowherd ranks his Top 10 players from the NFC Championship Game between the San Francisco 49ers and Philadelphia Eagles.
49ers Bee Eagles (3 p.m. ET Sunday, FOX and FOX Sports app)
Which team has more passing yards and how many will they have?
While Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts has admitted that his throwing shoulder isn’t quite 100%, you have to go with Philly here. No shade for Brock Purdy in San Francisco. After all, Brock has proven that Mr. Irrelevant is very relevant. But a battered Jalen still gets the edge here – especially since the Eagles average 256.7 passing yards per game and the Niners average 238.2.
Which team has the most tackles and how many will they have?
These are the league’s top two defensive teams, so you’d almost want to toss a coin. But this season, Philadelphia has averaged 59.2 tackles per game and San Fran averaged 57.9.
Eagles get the lead on this spot.
Eagles, less than 63
Which team has the longest punt and how long will it be?
It’s time to show the bay some love. The Niners’ Mitch Wishnowsky has a 74-yard kick under his belt this season. That is a shared fourth place in the competition. Eagle Brett Kern’s longest punt this season was 53 yards.
Loyal to the bay and to Mitch on this one.
Jalen Hurts, Eagles will host 49ers in NFC Championship Game
Colin Cowherd breaks down the NFC Championship Game showdown against the San Francisco 49ers, including what makes Philly a “stacked team.”
Which team has the most compelling yards and how many will they have?
Again, another category where both squads are in the top 10. The 49ers average 138.8 rushing yards per game; the Eagles averaged 147.6.
The NFC Championship will be a game with Philly’s Miles Sanders carrying the load of the running game and helping the Eagles hover over the ground.
Which team has the longest field goal and how long will it be?
This postseason was unusually brutal against one particular field goal kicker. Ahem, we’re looking at you Brett Maher. But for the Eagles and the Niners, field goal play will return to regular programming. In this game, we count the length of field goals scored, not how many were missed.
Philadelphia’s Jake Elliott’s longest field goal this year was from 56. San Fran’s Robbie Gould’s longest field goal is 51. However, the Eagles will force the Niners into more long field goal situations this Sunday. So we’re going with the Gould on this one.
Which team will win and by how many points?
At FOX Bet, the Eagles are currently a 2.5 point favorite over the 49ers. And it’s a pity that one team has to lose. Both teams have put together hugely impressive seasons with well-rounded offenses and defenses.
But the advantage goes to the Eagles.
Although their running games and their defense are neck-and-neck, this matchup will ultimately come down to quarterback play and home court advantage.
Having Hurts at QB and playing at Lincoln Financial gives Philly an edge. So expect a close game. However, we like the Eagles with the win and the cover.
Eagles by 3 points
