The real Emoni Bates has officially risen.
Bates, a former No. 1 recruit coming out of high school, dropped 43 points for Eastern Michigan on Tuesday, including 29 in a row to close out the first half.
The Eagles fell to Tulane by a score of 84-79, but Bates remained the star of the show, converting 15 of his 23 field goal attempts and nine of his 14 3-point attempts.
Bates spent a season in Memphis under head coach Penny Hardaway before moving to Eastern Michigan after last season.
Over the year, Bates — a six-foot-tall, 170-pound forward from Ypsilanti, Michigan — now averages 20.5 points on the season. His previous career high was 36, which he scored against South Carolina on December 30.
The Eagles are 4-16 on the season and 1-6 in MAC play.
